App Store가 15주년을 맞이하였습니다. 이 사실 만으로도 충분히 개발자들이 열광할 만하지 않을까요?

It's the 15th year of the App Store, and if that isn't enough to get developers excited I don't know what is.

 

New Macs

새롭게 출시된 15인치 맥북 에어는 학생들이나 입문 단계의 개발자들에게 아주 적합합니다. 맥북 에어의 더 커진 화면이 이런 분들께 단순히 가격적으로 합리적인 것 이상의 도움을 줄 수 있을 것입니다.

The new 15" Macbook air is suitable for students and as an entry-point for new developers. The increased screen real-estate will help those who opt for this more than reasonable machine.

 

M2 Ultra의 파워 옵션들을(?) 보시게 되면, 개발자들에게 더 훌륭한 선택지들이 생겼다는 것을 알게 될 것입니다(물론 자금이 넉넉하신 분들).

When you see the power options with M2 Ultra, you know that developers now have a great choice within the product lineup (for those with deep pockets).

 

솔직히 말해서(To be honest). 맥북 프로 13인치가 아직도 라인업에 포함되어 있는 게 놀랍긴 합니다.

TBH. I'm still surprised by MacBook pro 13" is still in the lineup.

 

iOS Updates

개발자들에게 있어 Apple의 iOS 업데이트는 항상 더디게만 느껴집니다(?). 저는 우리가 iOS 개발자인 것보다도 iOS 사용자라는 점과 더 연관이 있다고 생각하며, 충분히 흥분할 만한 내용들을 담고 있다고 생각합니다(여러분이 얼마나 Apple 제품을 많이 사용하는지에 달려 있습니다).

iOS Updates

It always seems pedestrian to developers that Apple update iOS. I feel like this is relevant to us as iOS users rather than iOS developers and contains the appropriate amount of excitement for you (depending on how tethered to your i-device you are).

 

애플이 통화와 관련된 앱을 업데이트 하는 것이 늦은 감이 있을 수는 있지만, 그래도 CallKit과 호환되는 멋진 추가 기능이 포함되어 있습니다.

Apple updating the App on the phone is perhaps overdue, but a nice addition that is at least compatible with CallKit.

 

라이브 보이스메일이 스크린 콜을 하는 데 있어서도 도움이 될 거예요! 페이스타임 메시지는 사용성을 더욱 개선시켜 줄 것입니다 - 항상 옳습니다. 제가 메시지 기능을 자주 사용하는 것은 아니지만, 이런 업데이트들이 많은 사람들에게 도움이 될 것이라고 생각합니다(특히 미국과 영국에 있는 분들에게).

Live voicemail will help us to screen calls too! FaceTime message may help to keep users on the platform - always a good thing. I'm not a great user of messages, but I'm sure those updates will appeal to many people(particularly in the US and UK).

 

이모지에 대해선 제 파트너가 "안드로이드는 원래 됐던 거야"라는 얘기를 했습니다.

Emojis garnered the response from my partner - "Android already does that"

 

AI와 머신 러닝을 통한 자동수정 기능에 대한 첫 언급이 있었습니다. 솔직히 많이 미숙한 느낌을 지울 수가 없습니다. 다행히도 일기 앱을 사용할 때 애완동물들의 사진을 찍을 때는 도움이 될 것 같긴 하네요.

The first mention of AI and machine learning came with autocorrect. I'm disappointed that the feature is so dull, to be honest. Luckily they followed it up with the Journal App to help us all take photos of our pets.

 

StandBy 모드에 대한 저의 반응은 "마침내" 였습니다. 제가 시리를 부를 때 "시리야"하듯이 말이죠.

My reaction to StandBy mode is "finally". As is my reaction to cutting Siri's wake word to simply "Siri".

 

MacOS updates

('Widgets fading and lots of stuff from iOS.' 부분은 명확하게 이해가 안 되네요ㅜㅜ) 간밤의 꿈에 나왔던 AI 운영 시스템에 대한 내용은 없었습니다. 스위치 게임이 훌륭하다는 것은 알지만, 맥에서 '노 맨즈 스카이' 게임을 할 일은 없을 것 같네요.

MacOS updates

Widgets fading and lots of stuff from iOS. Not quite the AI operating system I had a dream about last night. I know Switch games are great, but I don't need No Man's Sky on Mac thanks.

 

Confluence를 앱으로 만드는 것은 듣기만 해도 괴롭네요. 나머지 MacOS에 대한 업데이트들은 다 고만고만했습니다.

Making confluence as an App.  That sounds like a new type of hell. The rest of the MacOS updates were the usual type of stuff with widgets and so on. Nothing to see here.

 

Apple Vision Pro

현재로서는 개발자들이 얼마나 사용자들이 열광할 만한 콘텐츠들을 만들어낼 수 있을지 가늠하기가 어렵습니다.

It's currently difficult to see how developers can make experiences outside the obvious that will actually get users and revenue.

 

아마 여러분들이 이 기기에 은행앱을 적용하려 하진 않을 겁니다. 하지만 각자 활용해보고 싶은 컨텐츠 서비스들이 있겠죠.

You're not going to have a banking App attached to the device, but you might have a wish for content services.

 

이런 것들이 개발자들의 기회를 제한 하게 것입니다. 그리고 여러분들이 새로운 것에 열광하는 타입의 사람이 아니라면 이런 초기 단계의 신제품에 쉽사리 뛰어들 수는 없을 것입니다.

This limits the opportunity for developers, and at this early stage of a new product category means it's hard to think about signing up for the experience - unless you're excited about doing something new.

 

무언가를 개발하기 위해서는 아니지만, 제 일터를 좀 더 나은 환경으로 만들기 위해 Vision Pro를 구매하는 것을 고려하고 있습니다. Xcode와 제대로 호환되기만 한다면 큰 모니터를 사는 것보다 나은 선택이 되지 않을까요? 일단 기다려 볼 필요가 있다고 생각합니다. 물론 3,499달러면 비싸긴 하죠.

I'm seriously thinking about getting one not to develop for, but as a better way to align my workspace. Such a device would be a better purchase than large screens, so long as it paired with Xcode properly. Will it? I guess we will have to wait and see. Altough $3499 is a hard sell.

 

결론

많은 사람들이 초조함부터 엄청난 기쁨에 이르기까지 다양한 감정을 가지고 WWDC를 맞이했을 것이라고 생각합니다. 그런 감정들이 애플의 Vision Pro 구매로까지 이어질지는 미지수이지만 말이죠. 그리고 개발자들이 이 새로 나온 기기에 대해 어떤 생각을 갖고 있는지 궁금합니다.

Conclusion

I'm sure some have approached WWDC with varying feelings, from nerves to unbridled joy. I don't know if that translated into a purchase of Apple's new Vision Pro and I'd love to know if as a developer you are excited or underwhelmed by the device.
